Miss Heather: The Yellow Class children work on turn-taking, sharing, peer interaction, how to wait patiently to help, counting, language….all through our cooking activities. My kiddos really liked cooking “Resurrection Rolls” last month and seeing that the roll was empty. They also are really into anything that lets them use the Power Link with the blender or hand mixer.

Miss Kate: My kids in Orange Class get to see, taste, smell and touch things that are new to them. We made “Celebration Smoothies” to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and they chose fruit to mash in a clear baggie and put in the smoothies. This is a great sensory experience for them. Children who are having difficulty eating are more likely to want to eat food they helped prepare. They like taking the trip in the Bye-Bye Buggy to the oven in the kitchen to bake, and enjoy sharing the food with other classes and volunteers. They are also learning object identification and skills like using a straw.
