The Little Light House currently has more than 140 children on a waiting list. The process of placing a child on The Little Light House waiting list involves three steps:
1. The child’s legal guardian must call The Little Light House and speak with the Waiting List Coordinator. The process only requires a few minutes. The date and time of the call is noted and child’s position on the waiting list depends on that “Initial Contact”. Therefore if a parents feels there is even a possibility their child may need Little Light House services, they are urged to contact The Little Light House immediately.
2. The legal guardians must download or request a Student application form be mailed to them and must complete and return it to The Little Light House within 30 days of the initial contact date.
3. The legal guardians must schedule a time to tour the LLH facility within 30 days of the initial contact date to better understand the services Little Light House offers and confirm whether LLH is the best program for their child.
As a child approaches the top of the waiting list, the legal guardian(s) receives a phone call requesting they bring their child in for a screening (a general evaluation of where the child is functioning developmentally). Once the screening is complete, The Little Light House professional team conducts placement meetings to determine for sure that the child qualifies for LLH services and whether The Little Light House has an appropriate classroom placement to offer the child for that school year. If so, the family is contacted and offered placement for the new school year. For this reason, it is vital for the legal guardians to keep The Little Light House informed of any change of phone number, email address or street address.
